Florence's tap water is excellent and free. Public fountains throughout the historic center provide drinking water.
Carry a refillable bottle. Restaurants that try to charge 5€ for 'still water in a bottle' should be politely refused.
Ask for 'acqua del rubinetto' (tap water) — some restaurants will provide it free, others insist on bottled.
