Try ochazuke at the end of a meal

Pouring hot tea over rice (sometimes with salmon, ume plum, or wasabi) is a Kyoto end-of-meal tradition.

Order it at traditional inns and home-style restaurants. It's also a popular post-drinking food.

A sign Kyoto hosts use to politely tell guests to leave: 'how about some ochazuke?' If your host offers it, it can mean 'time to go'!
