Many temples and shrines stamp these special books with calligraphy (300–500 yen per stamp). Beautiful souvenirs.
Buy a goshuincho at any major shrine (Kitano Tenmangu sells nice ones for 1,500–2,000 yen).
Don't use it for any other purpose. Some temples will refuse to stamp if it's mixed with travel notes or doodles.
