Kyoto is compact. Many sights are 20–40 minute walks apart through pretty neighborhoods.
From Kiyomizu-dera to Yasaka Shrine and on to Pontocho is a 45-minute walk through some of Kyoto's prettiest streets.
Rent a bike (1,000–1,500 yen/day) for the temple-hopping days. Most temples have bike parking.
